Major General (Ret.) Bob Sofge is an accomplished senior leader with more than four decades of experience commanding complex military and multinational operations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Sofge Group LLC, he advises defense, technology, and executive organizations on leadership, innovation, and strategy amid rapid global change.

Throughout his distinguished Marine Corps career, Major General Sofge led at every echelon of command. His final active-duty assignment was as Commanding General, U.S. Marine Forces Europe & Africa, where he directed multinational operations, strategic partnerships, and global defense initiatives. Previously, he served as Deputy Commander, Marine Forces Pacific; Assistant Chief of Staff, J5, for U.S. Forces Korea; and Deputy Commanding General, Combined Joint Operations Center Baghdad, during Operation Inherent Resolve.

He has flown combat missions in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Iraq in the AV-8B Harrier from both shipboard and land bases in support of Operations DECISIVE ENDEAVOR, DELIBERATE FORCE, and ALLIED FORCE. Major General Sofge has also deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and IRAQI FREEDOM, and with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. He has served as Commander of Marine Attack Squadron 311, Marine Aircraft Group 14, and Director of the Combined Joint Operations Center in Baghdad, Iraq.

He has held multiple staff assignments at Headquarters Marine Corps, including Head of Aviation Plans, Policy and Budget, Department of Aviation; Strategic Assessments Branch, Programs and Resources; and Weapons Systems Requirements Branch, Department of Aviation. He also served on the Joint Staff as a Defense Resource Analyst; as a Senior Watch Officer in the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (FWD) Tactical Air Command Center in Al Asad, Iraq; and as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1.

An early advocate for the integration of technology in defense strategy, General Sofge introduced the first AI-enabled operational war plan and championed innovative efforts that strengthened interoperability across allied forces. His leadership was marked by a focus on empowering teams, advancing modernization, and cultivating adaptive organizations prepared for 21st-century challenges. As a trusted advisor, he continues to guide senior executives, boards, and global organizations on strategic planning, emerging technologies, and leadership transformation.

Major General Sofge holds a Political Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Strategy from the U.S. Army War College, an MBA from TUI University, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
