Harold W. Blot is the president of HWB Services, a consulting firm providing advice on the management of large programs.

Harry was the Lockheed Martin Corporation Vice President, Deputy JSF Program Manager responsible for creating and integrating the Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and British Aerospace winning team during the design and testing of their entry in the Joint Strike Fighter competition until he retired in April 2002.

Mr. Blot has over 40 years of professional experience in the fields of management, engineering, flight research, and fighter aviation, including 11 years of  flight experience as a Marine Corps test pilot. He flew combat missions in southeast Asia, has test flown over 25 models of tactical airplanes, and spent six years as Program Manager of the V-22 and AV-8B airplanes.  After joining the first Harrier Squadron in May 1971, he developed the use of thrust vectoring for Air Combat Maneuvering.  While commanding a “Harrier Carrier” deployment in the Mediterranean, he helped develop the procedures for today’s tactical use of large numbers of Harriers at sea.  He was also responsible for developing the program which safely introduced the first operational AV-8B and F-18D night attack squadrons.  His career in the U.S. Marine Corps included command of numerous units ranging from a communications company to a Marine expeditionary force.  He retired in the summer of 1996 as a Lieutenant General in charge of Marine Corps Aviation and  joined Lockheed Martin that Fall.

Mr. Blot was born on October 10, 1938, and holds a BME degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and an MS degree in Business from George Washington University.  He and his wife, Marie, have 4 children.
